Students and Young Architects Summer Workshop 2016
DISCOVER – UNCOVER – RECOVER
The motive for the definition of the thematics of this year’s Summer Workshop, has been the highly significant fact of the appointment of the city of Pafos as the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2017, along with the city of Aarhus in Denmark.
The Travelling Stage returns for a third consecutive year, connecting the East with the West, bridging people and cultures in open spaces. Pafos2017 has created the programme The Travelling Stage, which began in 2015 and will peak in 2017 with dozens of events in squares and other locations of the Open Air Factory.
The Stage travels creating bridges, infrastructures and structures in dimensions of time and space, through collaborations and synergies. Opening a window to the world, four unique concerts, five great artists and an interactive group will amaze us once again through musical traditions from Cuba, the Middle East, Spain and Italy.
The Stage will travel during June, July and September. Each performance will take place in a different open space, starting at Pafos Waterfront with the group Charentaises de Luxe, continuing at Castle Square with Maykel Blanco from Cuba. This will be followed by Yasmin Levy’s performance at the Pafos Ancient Odeon and will end at Kato Vrysi with Zohar Fresco form Israel, the Irish composer and musician Ross Daly and Kelly Thoma.
