George Kimoulis and Thodoris Economou compose a unique universe under the stars

After the magical performances of Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Goran Bregovic at Aphrodite’s Rock (Petra tou Romiou), the project “Moon and Stars” of the European Capital of Culture Pafos2017 continues with the performance “From Odyssey to C. P. Cavafy” at the Pafos Ancient Odeon, on August 12th. The narration of George Kimoulis together with Thodoris Economou’s piano melodies, compose a unique universe under the stars.
In 2012, world-renowned filmmaker Robert Wilson directed “Odyssey” which was performed with great success in Greece and Italy, in co-production with the National Theatre of Greece and the historic Piccolo Teatro in Milan. The composer chosen by this great director to create the music for the performance, is musician Thodoris Economou. Recently, the performance was awarded Best Foreign Production staged in Italy in 2015. The direction of this Homeric epic, as well as its music composition and performance, received raved reviews.
The concert-performance “From Robert Wilson’s Odyssey to C. P. Cavafy’s Ithaca” was created based on the music of “Ithaca”, composed to accompany Ulysses’ journey, but also the quest of the internal voyage of each one of us which is described through Cavafy’s poetry.
George Kimoulis will narrate the poems in his distinctive style, accompanied by George Economou’s music & signing, ‘painting’ a beautiful picture accompanied by recorded voices and soundscapes.
