Street Art Square Festival is back!
European Capital of Culture Pafos2017
Following on the success of the two previous Street Art Square events, organised by the European Capital of Culture Pafos2017 in October 2015 and 2016 (Costa Karnavallou Street) respectively, the street art festival is completed this October with the participation of international artists. The 3rd Festival is also the most ambitious of the three events, as street art continues to grow at a spectacular pace worldwide, gaining increasing acceptance by the public and the urban environment itself, while the absence of street art in Cyprus – and in Pafos in particular – makes this venture an even greater challenge.
The city of Pafos, the institution of the European Capital of Culture Pafos2017 and the Cypriot public will soon have the honour to welcome in our country, the internationally acclaimed Italian artist Millo, known for his distinctive style, and the distinguished Japanese illustrator Usugrow!
Participating artists include, once again, Bane & Pest (SWI & CY), BillyGee (GR), Batu Gundal (CY), Charis Christoforou (CY), bankrupt.CY (CY), LUNE82 (GR) and Alex Martinez (GR). This year, more artists than ever before will decorate the walls of Pafos. The list of participating artists is completed with Taxis (GR), Elmer Tunistra (NL), Mattia Campo dall’Orto (IT) and Meats (SWI).
The street art projects will come alive between the 12th and 17th of October 2017 around Markos Drakos Square in the centre of Pafos. Art lovers and the broader public will have the chance to watch the artists at work as they create their impressive large-scale murals, as well as admire the murals completed in 2016.
[ At the same time, presentations and screenings are organised at Kimonos Art Center. ]
