CINE ATTIKON | ORO VERDE
The Cine-Attikon programme continues with a film from Switzerland, inspired by real events that took place in Ticino in early 2000. It’s the story of Mario and his ill-famed gang who are organizing the robbery of the century: they steal a huge amount of cannabis, which was confiscated by the police and was kept in a military depot. They replace the cannabis with… simple hay, hoping that this plan will change their lives.

TERRITORIES

Based on the concept of linking continents and cultures, this exhibition presents art works by Asli Bolayir from Mouttalos and Christine Chiorboli from Corsica. Their work explores identity issues, while reflecting the artists’ inner struggle in their attempt to identify and appropriate a sense of the place they belong to. With the same intensity, the works of the two artists create a dialogue with ones internal conflict on issues such as that of being between “somewhere” and “nowhere”, between policies of the nations and policies of biological identities, between removal and matter (the ground itself) and, finally, between being “somebody” or “nobody”. CASSANDRE
An international production of the Comédie de Genève, which was first presented in the Grand Opera d’ Avignon. Based on the work of Christa Wolf, the music performance presents the moment just before Cassandra, defeated by gods and people alike, falls into the hands of the Achaeans. In the little time she has left, Cassandra tells her story and her sufferings as a child, a lover, a prisoner and a woman. Fanny Ardant, who has worked with some of the most distinguished European directors, takes on the tragic role of Cassandra and her exquisite performance confirms her reputation as one of the best French actresses.

Ibrahim’s Khan
JANUS

Janus is a musical composition for violin and cello accompanied by animation screenings and video art, in an on-stage art installation. The project studies the Khan, as an allegory for the political and social reality that once made the coexistence between the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities possible. This audiovisual presentation studies, on various levels, the Khan’s (as a symbol) transition from a meeting point to a deserted site and then explores its re-launch as a meeting space and place of coexistence.
Participating artists: Zacharias Mouzakis (composer), Chrysostomos Neophytou (violin),Thibaut Verbe (cello),Yiannis Sakellis(on-stage installation/video art), Charalambos Margaritis(Animation/Video Art). Curated by: Chrysostomos Neophytou.
