In Paris, the quadriplegic eccentric aristocrat Philippe is interviewing candidates for a caregiver position when the rude African Driss literally invades his home asking him to confirm his presence there in order to receive his unemployment benefit from Social Insurance. Philippe challenges Driss, offering him a trial period of one month to gain experience, which changes the lives of Phillipe and those around him.

A film that combines humor and humanism. A gentle road movie that portrays the differences between the European South and the powerful North through the story of Alma. The heroine starts from Spain with a friend and her uncle to bring back the family 2000-years-old olive tree from a company in Dusseldorf. The sale of the olive tree took place years ago and it was the cause for a quarrel between its owners, her father and her grandfather, with the result of the decline of the grandfather and, after many years of silence, his refusal to stop eating.

Five new pianos will be exhibited for five days at a different location each day. A travelling interactive installation that includes a total of 2017 minutes of music! Of course the pianos are not to be presented as mere exhibits, since musicians but also students and visitors will be able to test their skills on the piano keys. On the first day of the event the pianos will be exhibited at the 28th October Square, followed by Geroskipou Square, Makarios Avenue and the Castle Square.

The pattern of the project “2017 Minutes of Music!- Five Pianos, Five Days, Five Places” is repeated in a different version, with the pianos placed along Makarios Avenue. The concept of the event is that the audience moves from one piano to the next, in an open air space. Five talented pianists from Pafos and other townsof Cyprus, namely Marianna Georgiou, Pantelitsa Socratous, Galina Dimova, Maria Avraam and Cleo Papadia, perform pieces written for solo piano in the last 50 years.

THE ABDUCTION FROM THE SERAGLIO (Opera)

The 19th edition of Pafos Aphrodite Festival is included in the Programme of Events of the European Capital of Culture – Pafos2017. The curtain opens with W.A. Mozart’s masterpiece, a co-production of the Italian Parma Opera Organization CE.FAC and the Theatre of Pisa, with the participation of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
The plot takes place in the 16th century at the seraglio of a Turkish Pasha where Konstanze, the fiancée of the Spanish nobleman Belmonte, is held captive along with her servants. Belmonte, who has managed to avoid captivity, attempts to rescue his fiancée.The escape plan fails, and after being captured, they are led to Pasha Selim who, after listening to their story, feels sorry for them and lets them free.
